26 bag First Class as Olusegun Agagu Varsity holds maiden convocation

A total of 26 granduands will receive First Class honours degree, as Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, holds its maiden convocation.

Out of 982 graduands, 307 bagged Second Class Upper Division and 488 Second Class Lower Division, with 161 ranked in the Third Class category in the five graduating sets of 2014/2015 to 2019/2020.

The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, disclosed this at a news conference on Monday in Okitipupa, preceding the maiden convocation, scheduled for March 25 in Okitipupa.

Ologunorisa also said that the institution had produced some students who scored over 4.5 CGPA.

He particularly mentioned Miss Adebisi Demehin, First Class honours in Chemistry, who, he said, had been offered admission by a university in Ohio, USA, to run her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme without a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree.

“Our First Class graduands are not a run-of-the-mill because they undergo series of academic scrutiny and that is why they are the best anywhere they go.

“In this convocation, we have produced 16 First Class honours, 307 Second Class Upper, 488 Second Class Lower and 161 Third Class,” he said.

Ologunorisa also said that the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Frederick Obateru-Akinruntan, would be given the award of Doctor of Business Administration (Honouris Causa), in recognition of his success story in the global business circle.

The vice-chancellor said that the institution had signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various institutions across the globe, under its blue economy programme.

This, he said, was aimed at making the university a world-class institution that would be able to compete favourably with its peers across the globe.

Ologunorisa also said that the institution also had series of interface and collaborations with the government, the private sector and other corporate organisations for it to be in vantage position for research and recognised in all spheres.

He thanked the Visitor to the institution, Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for coming to the university’s rescue when it was almost in comatose and bringing back its lost glory.
