The Security Situation Calls for Restructuring of National Security Architecture in Nigeria

The Security Situation Room has called for an appraisal and restructuring of Nigeria's National Security Architecture saying there is no cooperation or sharing of Information by the different components of State Security.

In a Statement Issued in Abuja recently, the Convener of the Security Situation Room-Douglas Ogbankwa Esq., stated thus :

"Despite the huge budget expended on about 17 National Security Outfits that have Intelligence Capabilities , there is no sharing of intelligence among them and Non State Actors who are insurgents have a had a field day slaughtering citizens in Plateau,Benue ,Delta ,Kaduna Rivers ,Niger ,Edo, Anambra and Imo States among others .The Federal Government of Nigeria has paid lip service to using technology to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Security Agencies in Nigeria .The use of technology does not cost much as the price of life is inestimable.

The Office of the National Security Adviser , which is the Coordinating Element in Security Operations in Nigeria have remained largely invisible and pedestrian .


The Governors who collect billions yearly as Security Votes has othing to show for it .The way it is going , everyone has to be armed as the State can not protect its citizens .If Government does not brace up , we may well be heading for a Gangster's Paradise .The Primary Purpose of Government is the protection of lives and properties and any Government that is unable to do this must reevaluate itself .

The Killings recently in different parts of country are particularly gory and unavoidable, if the Security Agencies were sincere. We may be civil , but we are not stupid .The Nigerian Government must wake up to secure its Citizens .The Cult Killings in some part of the country can be stemed by the use of Local Intelligence and the Leaders of the Security Apparatuses engaging with critical stakeholders.The Killing of Police Men and Soldiers in Delta State State of Nigeria could also have been avoided , ditto for the slaughtering of innocent citizens in other parts of the Country. The Authorities have not given traction to the issue of the killing of the Police Men and the Morale of Police Elements all around Nigeria is low ,because of the indifference to plight of the Police Men , even.in death. The Police Men that died in Delta State should be given the same respect as that given to the Soldiers that died .What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander .

The Business of Government is not the Government of Business, but the Security of business, lives and properties.Goverment must show itself to be the protector of its peoples and their interests.The Killings are therefore unacceptable and the Inspector General of Police and other heads of Security Agencies must move to stem the debauchery and wanton killings in those flashpoint states .Nigeria is a great country,but if the President does not provide a safe environment, no level of travels or trade mission will lead to the coming in of foreign investments."
