Motorists and road users kick as fuel scarcity returns to Lagos

Commuters on Monday expressed frustration over recurrent fuel scarcity in Lagos metropolis, resulting in few commercial vehicles, and the wanton hike in transport fares.

Some of them on Monday, condemned the marketers for their inability to make products available.

On Monday only a few filling stations were noticed selling, fuel to the long queue of motorists, in parts of the state.

Long queues were seen in areas like CMS and the Igbosere area of Lagos, Awolowo road, and the Lagos-Badagry express way.

This was also the same situation with other areas like Abule -Egba, Agege, Akowonjo Road, Bariga, Fola- Agoro and the Lasu-Igando Road.

The few filling stations that dispensed petrol had long queues of vehicles stretching some meters.

The drivers had little or no hope of buying petrol.

Some of the usually busy roads were strangely deserted as commercial vehicles increased fares by 100 per cent.

Some motorists and road users who decried the situation said they had to resort to buying from black market operators at very crazy rates

A pedestrian Mr Tunde Levi, said that he arrived the filling station along the CMS route at 7 30a.m and stayed till noon but could not buy fuel and had returned home because he felt weak having queued in the sun.

A woman who identified herself as iya Risi said that she had come out with her keg to buy fuel for her pepper grinding trade, but returned home immediately she sighted the unending queue
