An Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday, sentenced a 33-year-old man, Mudasiru Abass, to six months imprisonment for attempting to steal church properties.
Abass had pleaded guilty to a count charge of attempted stealing.
Following his plea of guilty, Magistrate L.K.J Layeni, convicted him as charged and sentenced him to six months imprisonment.
The magistrate sentenced Abass, after listening to the review of facts by the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, through a witness the Investigatig police officer as well as the nominal complaiant
Prosecution had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 3, at Refuge Word Ministry (a.k a World Salvation), located at Babalola bus stop, Iyalode, Ojo, Lagos.
The witnesses had said that the defendant was apprehended inside the church.
According to them, the defendant gained access into the church premises with the intention to steal church properties.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 406 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
