FRSC extends love to the sick

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra Command, on Saturday extended love and support to road traffic crash victims and patients in hospitals across the state as part of activities marking Valentine’s Day.

The outreach, carried out in Awka, included cash donations and visits to patients at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital and Regina Caeli Hospital.

The exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Road Safety Officers’ Wives Association (ROSOWA) and a philanthropist, Chief Abraham Oti.

Speaking with newsmen after the visits, Mrs Bridget Asekhauno, FRSC Sector Commander, said the gesture was in line with the spirit of love associated with the Valentine season.

According to her, beyond rescuing crash victims, the corps also supports them during recovery.

“We visit accident victims and other patients to show care and provide support within available resources.

“It is a continuous exercise aimed at giving hope to victims,” she said.

Asekhauno urged well-meaning individuals and organisations to partner with the corps in promoting humanitarian support.

She noted hat many hospitals also provide prompt treatment to accident victims, sometimes without immediate payment demands.

Also speaking, ROSOWA Chairperson, Mrs Ngozi Ezeala, said the association leveraged the Valentine season to identify with accident victims and provide emotional and material support.

In reaction, some beneficiaries expressed gratitude and prayed for blessings upon the donors for their kkindness.

Valentine’s Day, observed every Feb. 14, is celebrated by expressing love and affection through messages and gestures to partners, family members, friends and the needy in society.
