Man, 34, docked for allegedly stealing N4.6m

A 34-year-olr man, Ikechukwu Ozodinaobi has been dragged before an Ojo Magistrates' Court in Lagos over alleged stealing.

The defendant is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.

He appeared before the Magistrate, Mr L J.K Layeni but he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Dr. Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 6.

He was alleged to have stolen the sum of N4.9 million which was mistakenly transferred from LAPO microfinance bank into an Access bank account named Divine Ikymoore Integrated Ventures

The said sum was said to have been misdirected to the account, following network challenges .

The offence contravenes the provision of section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum

He adjourned the case until March 10 for trial.
