NBA (LAGOS BRANCH) ORGANIZES DISCOUNTED CERTIFICATION TRAINING IN INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION

IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CHARTERED INSTITITUE OF ARBITRATORS (UK)

The Continuing Legal Education Committee (“CLE Committee”) of the NBA (Lagos Branch) yesterday the 31st of May 2023 organized a discounted certification training in International Arbitration in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) for the members of the Lagos Branch.
The training session covered topics which included the fundamental principles of international Arbitration, Laws and Rules of Arbitration, Composition of the Arbitral tribunal, Statements of Claim and Defence, organizing Arbitral Proceedings, Hearings, Making the award and the Recognition and Enforcement of Awards.

Based on the concession granted, the members of the Lagos Branch obtained a forty (40) % discount and upon successful completion of the post training assessment tests will be eligible to apply for membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Speaking to our correspondent after the session, the Chairman of the CLE Committee, Mr. Mayowa Owolabi expressed the branch’s profound gratitude to the Chairman of the Institute, Chief Gbola Akinola SAN and its entire board for facilitating the organization of the training at a discount.

A second stream of the training is scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2023.
