Pius Idemudia Oiwoh immediate past Chairman of the NBA Benin Branch attends NBA Ungogo Kano Branch Law Week

It was an honour and a privilege to be a guest at the annual Law Week celebration organised by the esteemed Ungogo Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association in Kano.

This event upholds the cherished tradition within the legal profession, where participants are intellectually enriched, socially engaged, and culturally enlightened.

The Law Week, themed "The Role of Law in Mitigating the Impact of Current Economic Reforms," witnessed the esteemed presence of the Honourable Chief Judge of Kano State, esteemed Judges of the Kano State Judiciary, very senior and distinguished Members of the Bar, the Commissioner of Police for Kano State, and other eminent personalities. The keynote speaker, Dr. James Agaba, delivered an insightful and thought-provoking lecture, providing practical analysis and urging lawyers to be leaders and preserve the nobility of the profession. The event is expected to culminate in a grand dinner celebration.

I must commend the Branch Chairman, Muhammad Jibril Muhammad, a retired Chief Magistrate and Deputy Chief Registrar with the Kano State Judiciary, his executive committee, and the Planning Committee, chaired by Umar Ado, for their brilliant organisation and execution of this event.

In another remarkable event, I had the privilege of visiting the esteemed Kano Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, which coincidentally held its monthly meeting today. I witnessed, with great admiration, the outpouring of love and emotion from members as they spoke one after the other, expressing their appreciation for the simplicity, diligence, friendliness, and humility of the outgoing Chairman, S.S. Gezawa, and his team. It was the consensus of all members that the chairman carried every member along during his two-year tenure as chairman and recorded numerous achievements.

I take this opportunity to congratulate the lawyers in both branches on their rising profiles, which will undoubtedly sustain and promote the nobility of the legal profession.
