The African Bar Association (AfBA) Shares in the Pain and Grief of the People of Malawi in the Recent Devastating Flood

By: Douglas Ogbankwa Esq.

A Statement issued in Lagos , Nigeria by the Director of Strategic Communications of the African Bar Association (AfBA ) -Douglas Ogbankwa Esq , directed at AfBA Members , quotes the President of the African Bar Association (AfBA)-Hannibal Uwaifo Esq.,as stating on the subject matter indicated above thus :

"Distinguished Colleagues, It is with deep sadness that I address you very respectfully on behalf of the African Bar Association on the sad and devastating consequences of flooding which has killed more than 300 of our brothers and sisters in Malawi .

The Republic of Malawi.a peaceful and Democratic Nation which hosted the 2022 annual Conference of the African Bar Association very beautifully and successfully does not deserve this National and Continental tragedy.

We are in Prayers and Solidarity with the President, Executive and Members of the Malawi Law Society on this regrettable situation and assure President Chakwera , the Government and People of Malawi of our continued support.

A special projects Committee will be set up on Monday to co-ordinate our passionate response and support for our beloved Malawi People, especially those mostly affected.

I will address an international Press conference to this effect sometime next week.

Details will be forwarded, members are invited to hook up.

May the Souls of the Dead rest in eternal Peace and May God almighty comfort their loved ones. Amen"

The Statement concluded.
