The Continuing Legal Education Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA Ota branch--- The Utter Bar, led by the Chairman of the Committee Ayodeji A. Isiolaotan Esq. who also happens to be the Legal Adviser of the branch organised a 2 hour webinar on the topic *"Arbitration as a tool in Conflict Management"* on the 20th day of May, 2021 from 3pm - 5pm.
The speaker of the webinar *Mrs. Sola Adegbonmire FCIarb*, spoke extensively on the following areas; what an Arbitration is all about, the various kinds of Arbitration that is available, Arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution (Mediation, Litigation, and Negotiation) and their comparisons, the Arbitration Agreement - the need for it to be well drafted and the fact that the Arbitration Agreement survives the main contract especially when the main contract is null and void.
The speaker of the webinar further talked about the Basic Arbitration Clause, what should constitute as additional clauses in an Arbitration Agreement, when an Arbitration can commence, the appointment and jurisdiction of an Arbitrator, the proceedings of Arbitration, when courts can intervene in an Arbitration.
The writing and publishing of an award at the end of the Arbitration proceeding, the costs in Arbitration and finally, the recognition and enforcement of the award were also talked about. *Mrs. Sola Adegbonmire FCIarb*, ended the webinar by answering questions from participants that cuts across various Branches of the NBA.
The Chairman of NBA Ota Branch - the Utter Bar *J. T. Ogunniyi FICMC*, gave his vote of thanks on behalf of the branch and he assured the participants that a Certificate of Participation will be issued to each of the participants while the Chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee *Ayodeji A. Isiolaotan Esq.* closed the webinar.
The NEC Rep of the branch *Isaac Ogbah FICMC*, hosted the webinar and there were 73 participants that cut across Ota, Ijebu - Ode, Abeokuta, Lagos and the United Kingdom. This was made possible by the publicity that was given to the program by members of NBA Ota Branch.
