In commemoration of Adewale Adegoke’s 50th birthday and 25 years call to bar anniversary, a week-long event commenced yesterday, 07.10.25 with the flag off of the ADEWALE ADEGOKE ANNUAL LECTURE.
The topic of the inaugural lecture was ‘’MENTAL HEALTH AND PERSONAL SECURITY - ANY NEXUS?’’ - ‘’BREAKING BARRIERS AND OVERCOMING STIGMA IN ACCESSING MENTAL HEALTH CARE DURING CRISES’’

The lecture was in celebration of the World Mental Health Day, aimed at promoting mental well-being, breaking the myths surrounding mental health and reducing stigma around mental illness in our community.
The team of experienced mental health professionals present did justice to the topic thereby making the lecture very interactive, while Miss B.B. Olaleye, a legal practitioner from First Zenith Law Firm who was one of the discussants gave an overview of the legal framework on Mental health in Nigeria.
KEY COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAMME INCLUDE:
Creating mental awareness and breaking the myths around mental health
Overcoming stigma in accessing mental health care during a crisis.
Legal perspective to mental health.
The programme was well attended by members of Nigerian Bar Association, Ota Branch and leaders of thoughts in the community at large.
Attendees at the event also had access to free Blood pressure check, sugar level checks and counseling services.
