Abuja court orders forefeiture of multi million property linked to Immigration Officer Zaid Abubakar

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of multi million properties linked to a businessman Zaid Abubakar following a pending criminal charge against the defendant.

Justice J.K Omotosho granted the interim orders following an exparte application filed by the Inspector General of Police against Abubakar who is listed as respondent in the application.

Counsel to the applicant Mr C.C Njoku had brought a motion exparte dated June 22, 2026 numbered
FHC/ABJ/CS/1338/2026, seeking among others: An order granting temporary forfeiture of a One 3 bedroom uncompleted building lying at Kuchiko Restaurant layout, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, the sum of $18,500 USD, the sum of NS00,000, and a Mercedeze Benz GLK 2015 Model.

The applicant also sought forefeiture of a Honda Accord 2015 Model, Kia 2012 Model, BMW 535i 2012 Model, Mercedeze Benz GLK 2015
Model, Toyota Corolla 2010 Model, a Rolex, Bernard Claude, Invicta, Tissot, and 8grams of 24-karat gold plates.

The applicant also sought forfeiture of a pack of birthday gift items Including 2 table clocks, bens, crystals flower vase, globe, and other valuable, recovered in the cause of investigation to the Government of Nigeria for the benefit of the nominal complainant.

The applicant sought an order, directing Publication in any National News Page the interim order relief one (1) Above for any person who is interested In the properties sought to be forfeited to appear before the Court to show cause within 14 days why a final order of forfeiture should not be granted.

After reading the affidavit in support of the motion deposed to by one Mr Muhammed Idris a police officer attached to Directorate of Legal Services Abuja, and following the application as moved by Njoku, the court ordered forfeiture of following properties:

"One 3 bedroom uncompleted building lying at Kuchiko Restaurant layout, Bwarl Area Council, Abuja, the sum of eighteen thousand five hundred United States Dollars ($18,500 USD), and the sum of five hundred thousand (N500,000.00).

"A Mercedeze Benz GLK 2015 Model, Honda Accord 2018 Model, Kia Morning 2012 Model, BMW 5351 2012 Model, Mercedeze Benz GLK 2015 Model, Toyota Corolla 2010 Model, Rolex, Bernard Claude, Invicta, Tissot, and 8 grams of 24-karat gold plates.


"A pack of birthday gift items including 2 table clocks, pens, crystals flower vase, globe, and other valuables recovered in the cause of investigation, to the Government of Nigeria for the benefit of the nominal complainant,"


The court also issued an order, directing the publication in any National News Page the interim order relief one (1) for any person who is interested in the properties sought to be forfeited, to appear before the court to show cause within 14 days why the final order of forfeiture of the properties should not be granted.

The court consequently, adjourned the case until September 24, for report.
