Nigerian Law Society mourns Justice Bayero hails his judicial legacy

The Nigerian Law Society (NLS) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Court of Appeal Justice, Hon. Justice Abdullahi Mahmud Bayero, describing his passing as a major loss to the judiciary, legal profession and Nigeria.

In a condolence statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Lillian Uche, the NLS described Justice Bayero as a distinguished jurist, respected member of the Bench and accomplished servant of the Nigerian judiciary.

The society said Justice Bayero’s years of dedicated service to the administration of justice and promotion of the rule of law had left an enduring legacy that would continue to inspire lawyers and judicial officers.

According to the NLS, the late jurist demonstrated the dignity, integrity, discipline and independence expected of the judicial office throughout his years on the Bench.

“His contributions to the development and administration of justice will remain a source of inspiration to members of the legal profession and generations of lawyers and judicial officers to come,” the society said.

The NLS also acknowledged what it described as the invaluable service rendered by Justice Bayero to the Nigerian Judiciary, noting that his death would be deeply felt by his colleagues, members of the Bar, the wider legal community, friends and associates.

The society extended its condolences to the Bayero family, relatives, judicial colleagues, members of the Bar and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with the deceased.

It prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Justice Bayero’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

The NLS further prayed for comfort and strength for the deceased’s family and loved ones, while asking Allah to preserve the Nigerian Judiciary and legal profession.

The society urged members of the legal profession to continue upholding the ideals of justice, fairness, equity and the rule of law for which distinguished jurists such as Justice Bayero devoted their lives.
