*Team Olumide Akpata Anambra State Sounds Their Support For Him*

The Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA), as a Non-Governmental Organisation is principally founded with the aim of promoting and protecting Human Rights, the Rule of Law, and good governance in Nigeria in particular, and in Africa in general. In recent times, the perception of the NBA as a potent watchdog of democracy by the public has been at an all-time low, especially due to the incessant cases of wanton disregard for due process and rule of law by the government. Flagrant abuse of people's fundamental human rights by law enforcement agencies, to which many lawyers have been at the receiving end in the course of discharging their professional duties remains the order of the day.

This disenchantment has been more amongst lawyers many of whom have been questioning the utility of the NBA. The association can scarcely discharge the functions it has been saddled with, especially to its members by protecting their interest and welfare.

That is why Olumide Akpata's candidature at this time comes as a beacon of hope to not just members of the NBA, but the general populace at large. Because of his antecedents and reputation for getting things done with swift efficiency and excellence, hope is renewed.

This excitement is further validated from the knowledge of Olumide Akpata's plans for the NBA, evidenced in his manifesto which ought to serve as a working blueprint for Presidents of the NBA, well after his tenure. Olumide Akpata's plan for the NBA is anchored on a four-point agenda which, just like the four cardinal points of the earth is pivotal to the earth's geography and navigation, covers in clear and precise terms, the gamut of the essence and purpose of the NBA. He has visionary and practical plans within achievable timelines, to improve the lot of the members of the NBA primarily, then strengthen the impact of the NBA in discharging it duties to the society at large. Both of these would further be guaranteed by reinforcing the institutional framework of the NBA and repositioning her to be revelant today and in the future.

This is why we stand with Olumide Akpata because we know that his antecedents and track record show clearly without any iota of equivocation, that he has the capacity and will to deliver on the assurances he has given to the NBA.
